Fees & Insurance

Insurance

I am in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBS). If you’ll be using insurance, please take a few moments to call your insurance company and verify your coverage before beginning therapy. Some questions to ask include:

  • Are mental health benefits covered in my plan?

  • Is this provider in-network with my plan?

  • What are my co-pays for therapy sessions, and do I have a deductible I need to meet?

  • Is there any limit on the number of sessions covered?

  • Are virtual outpatient mental health visits (or teletherapy) covered by my plan?

(You can usually find your insurance company’s customer service number on the front or back of your insurance card.)

For all other insurance plans, I am considered an out-of-network provider. If your plan offers out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a superbill (a detailed monthly receipt for services) to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Again, I encourage you to call your insurance company to verify whether you have out-of-network benefits that can be applied to our sessions. Click here for a list of recommended questions to ask when you call.

Fees

Initial intake session (75-90 minutes): $135

Standard follow-up therapy sessions (55 minutes): $135

Payment is due at the time of service, and will be processed through your Client Portal using the online payment system Stripe.

I accept all major credit & debit cards as well as FSA / HSA cards.

Sliding Scale Fee Spots

I offer a limited number of sliding scale fee spots.

These are held for folks who cannot afford my full fee and/or experience systemic marginalization based on their race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, body size, religion, or (dis)ability. If you are interested in a reduced fee spot, please reach out to see if I have any available.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure to cancel at least 24 hours beforehand, otherwise a late cancellation fee will be applied. (Please note that insurance will not cover any part of the session cost for no-shows/late cancellations.)

No Surprises Act & Good Faith Estimate

In accordance with the Federal No Surprises Act of 2022, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your therapy will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients and clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for their services. You can learn more about the No Surprises Act here.

You will never receive a surprise bill from me. We discuss rates before you even begin therapy. Your fee is always the same for the same service and when I raise fees I provide at least a month’s notice.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
